A rich history of innovation

The small city had a big reputation as the headquarters of the Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company over a century ago. This company, which pioneered many advances in farming equipment, originally employed most of the early residents. Originally named "West Minneapolis", the name was changed to honor Harley H. Hopkins, one of the first homesteaders and the community's first postmaster. This sister-city to Boryspil, Ukraine is currently enjoying redevelopment with a commitment to maintain, preserve, and improve the historic community.
